BARBARA DI MAIO – In the name of the Mother
In the Name of the Mother explores the feminine presence within religious rituals, casting a contemplative gaze upon the gestures, signs, and presences that traverse sacred spaces and weave them into the fabric of everyday life.
At the heart stands the figure of the woman: a silent mediator between the visible and the invisible, guardian of a rituality transmitted through the body, through unspoken words, through acts repeated and remembered. The veil, a recurring motif becomes both distance and protection, a symbolic cipher of a condition that transcends epochs and contexts.
The feminine presence dwells between memory and transformation, neither indulging in nostalgia nor embracing celebration, with the intent to restore to the feminine a centrality that often remains implicit, hidden, and unspoken. In this suspension between presence and disappearance, a space unfolds for reflection on the place the woman continues to hold within the realms of ritual, faith, and community.
