2023 – FLOOD IN EMILIA-ROMAGNA
2023 – ALLUVIONE IN EMILIA-ROMAGNA

Max Cavallari’s photographs depict Emilia-Romagna after 16 May 2023, the day on which the flood swept through entire regions, leaving in its wake victims, displaced people and empty homes.
Cavallari captures the sheer force of that destruction in a dramatic succession of moments, from the isolation of homes transformed into islands to the struggle of those trying to reclaim their lives.
He lays bare the fragility and instability of this land: these are fragments of a shared memory, which restore dignity to every detail and transform the traces of the disaster into a testimony that demands to be remembered and preserved.
