Like The Tide è una storia di donne. Ed una storia di maree.
Come le maree: il tessile va via, le vongole filippine si fermano davanti al Po. Poi sopraggiunge il granchio blu che devasta l’ecosistema creato dai molluschi. Uno sconvolgimento e un adattamento, uno dopo l’altro. Ma, soprattutto, la capacità di sopravvivere, di resistere di queste donne, in un territorio di terra e di acque, tra Veneto ed Emilia Romagna, da Porto Tolle/Scardovari a Goro.
La fotografa Chiara Negrello racconta questo intero mondo al femminile, lungo tre generazioni, diviso tra la fatica, la raccolta a mano alle prime luci del giorno o nella nebbia del Po, e gli affetti familiari.
Like The Tide is a story about women. And a story about tides.
Just like the tides: the textiles drift away, the Philippine clams come to a halt at the Po. Then the blue crab arrives and devastates the ecosystem created by the molluscs. One upheaval and one adaptation, one after the other. But, above all, it is about these women’s ability to survive and persevere in a landscape of land and water, between Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, from Porto Tolle/Scardovari to Goro.
Photographer Chiara Negrello captures this entire world of women, spanning three generations, torn between the hard labour of harvesting by hand at the first light of day or in the mist of the Po, and the bonds of family.
